It features 9 original songs which in order are, Little Eyes, As In Love, And Then I Remember, The You of You, Don’t Hate Me, Not True, Miracle, Eye Nu U Wud, and Chunky.

So, let’s go to tape and hear what happened.

[Tim Tunes LIVE 20230702 stream]

Welcome to the first performance of Tim Tunes LIVE. The Tim Tunes Podcast live and online.

Since this is the initial broadcast it’s something of an experiment. Please excuse us if we have technical difficulties.

So today will be a combination of songs that I have not included in other podcasts and some new songs that I’ve written.

Initially, I had all kinds of plans about including my arrangements of songs and a live vocal harmonizer, but end the end I was only able to put together a single instrument played live.

I hope you enjoy it.

E chord

This first song is one I wrote around 1975 or so. It was written for a friend’s first child. Here is Little Eyes

That last song was As In Love, I wrote that song for my wife in the latter 70’s. It was also included in a mix of tunes that I played at my wedding.

Let’s check in and see if we have any comments…

I wrote this next song when my Mom passed away in 2010. It’s my thoughts and feelings on grief. Today, this one goes out to Terry.

3. And Then I Remember

C, G4/B, F2/A, C, (Dm7,Em7)                                                                                        INTRO

        C                      G4/B                                          V 1
I open my eyes and what should I see
          F2/A                          C                    (Dm7,Em7)
But the beautiful day that’s a head of me.
               C                                              G4/B
Then I’m drinking my coffee, or maybe reading the news
F2/A                                                         Am
Everything is fine until I think of you

       Em2        Dm7               Em2       Dm7  G7 C 1
And then I remember - And then I remember

        C                           G4/B                                                                                          VERSE 2
So I put it behind me, as best as I can
          F2/A                          C                    (Dm7,Em7)
And I set about working as best as I can stand
  C                                    G4/B
Then I’ll hear a tune or a phrase that you might use
F2/A                                                          Am
And I can’t stop myself from thinking about yo

       Em2        Dm7               Em2       Dm7                 G7 C 2
And then I remember - And then I remember

Dm                     G7               C             Am7                                                     BRIDGE
How can the world keep spinning     around?
Dm                     G7             Am9
How can the moon still shine?
Dm                       G7                      C                Am7
How come everybody just keeps go- ing       along?
F
Don’t they know what’s happened?
G7
Don’t they know what’s happened?

        C           G4/B           F2/A        C  (Dm7,Em7)                                        VERSE 3
Ooooooo                        Ahhhhhhh
        C           G4/B            F2/A        Am
Ooooo                            Ahhhhhhh

       Em2         Dm7              Em2      Dm7               G7 C 3
And then I remember – And then I remember –

           C                             G4/B                                                                          VERSE 4
Then slowly, but surely as time heals the heart
          F2 /A                                    C
These moments are fewer and farther apart
 C                                         G4/B
Memories fade and then life intrudes
         F2/A                        Am
Until all that’s left is the soul of the memory of you

      Em2     Dm7        Em2              Dm7                                                  CHORUS 4 & ENDING
But still I remember – Suddenly I remember –
       Em2         Dm7     G7          (tacet)      C   G4/B  F2/A   C
And then I remember -                   You are gone.

The You of You was written recently after my 50th High School Reunion. I was struck how after all of that time there something essential that remained about that person. I hope you can relate.

I have a thing about songs that it’s like does a song really esist if I’ve never played it live. This last song and the next one are the world premiers for these two.

This next song has been rolling around in my head for years and finally found its way out a few months ago. I hope you enjoy Don’t Hate Me.

Your world view, has  a skew that is all about you
E7                                                         A7
Screw the rest you’ll do what’s best.   What’s best for you

D                                                    A                                                                                          2nd Chorus
Just because you say something doesn’t make it true
A                                                             D          D7
Just because you heard it somewhere, still, not true
G                              Gm7       D                        B7
You can tweet it and repeat it all that you want to
        E7                                                A7
But, just because you say something doesn’t make it true

D                                                  A                                                                                             2nd Verse
The reason is that reason is the only way to tell
A                                                         D                           D7
What is true and what is false, what works and what will fail
G              Gm7                     D                  B7
Evidence, cause and effect,    will tell the tale
      E7                                                     A7
So site the source and think about who loses and does well

D                                                         A                                                                                3rd Chorus
Just because you say something doesn’t make it true
A                                                   D                  D7
You can read it on the internet, but, still, not true
              G                            Gm7                    D                       B7
You can make a meme but that don’t mean a thing I can construe
            E7                                            A7
Hey, just because you say something doesn’t make it true

G                      Gm7                       D            B7                                                                        Bridge
You may think you know who this ditty is about
           E7                                              A7
There is at least one person who you know like this, no doubt
                G                      Gm7                       D                       B7
But you’d better take the plank out from your own eye, my friend
       E7                                                        A7
And look at how you get your facts before casting aspersions

D                                                    A                                                                                      4th Chorus
Just because you say something doesn’t make it true
A                                                    D          D7
Even though you wish it were, it’s still, not true
        G                  Gm7               D                          B7
You can pout and shout about it, cry until you’re blue
       E7                                                A7                       G
But, just because you say something doesn’t make it, that don’t make,
      G    A7   D
It’s still, not true

If you can’t figure out what that last song is, I can’t help you.

This is another of those it hasn’t been heard so its not real yet, songs.

This next song I wrote for the musical Waiting Room. I’m playing it as a request from one of my Patreon patrons.  I hope you enjoy it.

This next song is goes out to Sally and Marie. I wrote it for an old dear friend who was one of the most creative people I’ve ever met.

8. Eye Nu U Wud

Am                        Em                    Am                             G                                                                V1
I saw you first in a Baptist church playing your bass to beat the band
        Dm                                        F
You played so sweet though you did not smile
                    C                                   G
Though you held that crowd in your hand

       C      G             Am  g  F                                                                                          CHORUS 1

        C           G         C           G
You wrote it twice in my year book
         C        G           Am    g  F
You did as best you could, I   guess.
  C             G            C
I knew you would.  I knew you would.

You struggled so hard to be complete
             Dm                                        F
But with no one to guide you and the tempest inside you
       C                                   G
You must have been destined to defeat.

       C      G             Am  g  F                                                                                             CHORUS 2

In my heart I knew it from the start
              C                 G                  Am    g  F
Is it the curse of the blessed to be so     obsessed?
  C             G            C
I knew you would.  I knew you would.

Am                           Em                 Am                          G                                                                V3
I tried to call you so many times,       but you never gave me a reply
                Dm                                         F
From your sisters and mother and from all of the others
  C                                                  G
I learned of your trials and your demise

       C      G             Am  g  F                                                                                               CHORUS 3

We did as best we could. I guess
         C        G               Am       g       F
But I had to cry when I learned you'd died
  C             G            C
I knew you would.  I knew you would.
